We went to see those precious little girls last night. We didn't get there until late so we missed feeding, diaper change and bath night. We walked in while they were changing Brooklyn's bed linens. When I stepped over her bed, I got a whiff of the little diaper sitting on top of the bed. WOW! That little girl can produce some serious stank! The diaper was closed and I asked the nurse if it was a poopy diaper because I needed assurance that the smell wasn't coming from somewhere else. She assured me that it was all from Brooklyn's poopy diaper. I was in shock that a little being could produce that much nastiness. But it pretty much means my prayers for poop have been answered.
The babies were wore out when we got there. Bath nights are very tiring for the chicks. Quinn had her bath first. Usually a bath consists of a basin of warm water and you just bath them in their bed. It is more or less a sponge bath. But the nurse said she was able to put Miss Quinn in the tub to bathe her. Wish I would have seen that baby girl in the tub basin. Brooklyn has to wait on her dip in the basin. She still has some of her umbilical cord left and the IV.
Quinn was knocked out cold. She had her pacifier in and had a death grip on that thing. I guess she was afraid someone was going to take it from her. Her little face was buried in her swaddle. She was so peaceful.
Brooklyn had a "make do" swaddle. They didn't have anymore small ones. So Nurse Bobbie rolled up some blankets to frame her little body. She was sleeping hard. She is so darn cute without her face being crowded with tubes!
When some people snore, they will blow out their mouth. For the most part, it is a little bit of air that seeps from their mouth and may make a small whisper or whistle noise. If this is the case, you can see their lips move with the release of that bit of air. Brooklyn does that when she sleeps. She will blow out her mouth like she is snoring. Her bottom lip will shake with the release of the air...like a little quiver. Sometimes she will blow a bubble with the release. She gets this honestly from her Papi. I sat there last night and just watched her sleep. It is like she was snoring without the sound. It was so mesmerizing to watch her.
Enough rambling, the girl's weights last night were wonderful news. Quinn is now at 3 lbs and 1 oz. Brooklyn...wait for it...she broke the 2 lb mark. YAY!! Well, she is exactly 2 lbs. My girl is fattening up!
Not to brag, but the nurses in their nursery are always telling us how adorable the girls are and how much they love their personalities. They tell us that babies their age and size just don't look like babies yet. But they think Quinn and Brooklyn are the most adorable girls. And are an exception to the rule! They have those nurses wrapped around their little finger. I don't feel so bad now. I am just telling you what the nurses tell me. They love them. I love it because they tell me about their personalities and how different they are as far as that is concerned. I just smile and say "Yes, I know." I knew their personalities before they were born. I knew that Quinn was the laid back baby. And Brooklyn was my wild child. That is how the nurses describe them. Quinn and Brooklyn are complete opposite in that category. Quinn is so docile and calm. Brooklyn is so NOT so much. She is all over the place and spunky. She seems so independent too. Wonder where she gets that trait.
I over heard the Respiratory Therapist and nurse last night talking about how Brooklyn breathes so much better that her sister. And how they were surprised considering she was so much smaller. It proves my point...she wants to be independent from the machines helping her breathing flow. She is her mother's child.
There were no new updates as of 1:00pm today. Girls have been good today.
