From Pregnancy to Birth then onto the NICU

05-05-10

I have the new weights for the girls. Quinn is now weighing in at a hefty 3 lbs...porky! She is doing well and did not have any orders for any changes today.

Brooklyn now weighs 1 lb and 15 oz. She is slowly moving up in her weight class! She did have new orders today. She will need another blood transfusion. It is normal for this to be necessary. Premature babies do not make red blood cells very fast. The NICU is taking blood daily for tests and little babies cannot keep up. So more blood is necessary to help replenish what the NICU takes from them. She did get the IV removed from her neck. She did have to get one put in her hand. At least she won't look like she is completely uncomfortable now. It just looked awful to have that thing sticking out of her neck. They assured me over and over that it doesn't hurt her. Now, her entire face will be visible.

Those are the only updates for today on the girls.

I will admit that I am exhausted. Breast Pump...Work...Breast Pump many times at work...Home...Play with Toby...Shower...Breast Pump...Hospital...Breast Pump...Sleep and few hours...Breast Pump...Sleep a few more hours...Breast Pump...Dress and then to Work...Breast Pump...and so on. My schedule does not stray too far from this reenactment. The late hours at the hospital are really taking a serious toll on my energy and sleep. I know it is worth every minute I spend with them...but I can't keep my eyes open typing this and it is only 6:45pm. People say to get sleep before they come home. Those people obviously did not have babies in the NICU and live 45 minutes away from the hospital. (YAWN!!!)

I am going to nap for 15 minutes then breast pump then shower.

HeHe! Don't you just love to hear about my lovely breast pumping. Excellent!

I wish I had more good news about the babies but no news is good news. One small step at a time. I love those girls!

  1. When Robert and Jason stopped by the other day I think I told Helen how they used to hide his leg from him!! Better keep a close eye on the breast pump! Payback maybe??
