The two princesses have arrived!!!!!!

To start things off, I did get my plan from the doctors on Tuesday morning. The plan was to deliver the babies at 32 weeks. Unless something arised that would cause a delivery early. On Wednesday morning, the nurse practitioner talked with me about my OBGYN, Dr. Hood, agreeing and being on board with the plan. Well, I guess Myrtle was not happy about that plan and made her own.

The sonogramist came and went and all looked good on Wednesday morning. After leaving, a few minutes later she came back and said that she completely forgot to check the umbilical cord outside the body. She was just checking the cord vein that goes to her liver. Dr. Eller added this check to all the ultrasounds from now on. So she came back to check the doppler on Myrtle's umbilical cord. God was watching over us that day as He is everyday. She found that her doppler was showing consistent reversal flow of blood in her umbilical cord. She rushed to the doctor's office to report the scans. Soon, Dr. Feng came in my room singing Happy Birthday.

I was in the right place at the perfect time and Myrtle knew she needed to be here. So her and God planned their moves for me to be admitted into jail again. Amazing how things work in our lives that we complain about and then look like a fool. Just a reminder that we need to sit back and let God guide us and not ask any questions. He knows what is best and we need to trust in him.

Flossie came into this world weighing in at 2 lbs. 5.5 oz and 14 1/4" long. Her new name is Quinn Reagan Summers. She was born on 04-14-10 at 2:23pm. She is an amazing "little" being. She had a rough day yesterday. Her birthday was a bit of a workout. She had a hard time yesterday keeping her "lines" in. She struggled to maintain her stats throughout the day and night. She does need help breathing. But sometime today or tonight her tubes will be removed and they will see if or what breathing she can do on her own. She is having a hard time maintaining her blood pressure today. She is one of the most precious little girls in the entire world.

Myrtle is the other most precious little girl. Unfortunately, they have to share that title. She didn't weigh as much as her older sister. The little wonder weighed 1 lb. 11.5 oz and was 12 1/2" long. And her new name is Brooklyn Kelly Summers. She was born on 04-14-10 at 2:24pm. She had a good day yesterday and today. She hasn't needed any breathing help and is breathing regular oxygen. Which is amazing and wonderful. They actually started feeding her through a tube today and is digesting her food well enough that they are going to continue to feed her. She is doing well.

Unfortunately, it only takes a minute for everything to change. So the next 48 hours is vital. Dr. Feng from Maternal Fetal Specialists informed me on Tuesday that Quinn (Flossie) would probably have a harder time outside the body because she is not used to struggling like Brooklyn (Myrtle). Which makes complete since considering Brooklyn (Myrtle) has been struggling inside the womb. She is just in a different environment. They are strong little chicks and I have so much confidence in those little miracles. It is just the little things that melt your heart. Today, Brooklyn actually squeezed my finger. Her tiny hand couldn't wrap all the way around my pointer finger. She even opened her eyes for me for a second. Precious!!!

As far as the C-section, it was the weirdest thing I have ever been through. It was really neat and odd at the same time. I heard those little cries from both Quinn and Brooklyn and thought it was the sweetest sound I have ever heard. It was the most amazing moments ever. Although I do miss them being with me all the time. I am glad they are getting the care they need in NICU.

They are in a special place and have their very own nurses to watch them 24/7. Not to mention the wonderful Dr. Leigh as their neonatal doctor. And like he says, they have an even bigger doctor watching over them.

Well the pain medicine is kicking my tush now. My eyes cannot function any longer.I am so proud of those little girls. And I am so glad you all have been such support through this trying time.

Thank you for all your prayers and I ask that you continue to pray for Quinn and Brooklyn. Each day will be a new day and struggle for them and they have a long road ahead of them. Please keep them in your prayers. I will keep this blog updated on their progress.
