I have renamed our humble home. I have dropped the name, Summer's Residence. It is now called... "One Year Old: Sibling Hell." All one year old children are welcome to take on these two fighters. In just two days, I have witnessed two cat fights and one yesterday that I was not home for...thank goodness. One cat fight started over a bottle that belonged to one baby (not sure which one). I saw four arms flying dangerously through the air aimed at each of their faces. Contact with these flailing arms was being mad to the opposites face. After the arms were not enough of an impact, the mouths went open and it was like a dog fight. They were aiming to tear into their sister with their sharp little teeth. All you saw was mouths open and heads leaned toward a sister and the head shaking back and forth, looking to land those chompers on a body part.
The other incident was when Brooklyn didn't care for Quinn to be standing next to her as they stood propped against the play table. This fight was especially interesting because Brooklyn went straight for Quinn's hand...with her mouth wide open. Her fangs were glistening in the light. She was ready to afflict some serious pain. Just last week, Quinn was slapping Brooklyn in the face with a small toy and as soon as Quinn's hand raked across Brooklyn's mouth, she locked her mouth so tight. Unfortunately, Quinn's finger was still lodged between Brooklyn's fangs. Quinn had a shocked look on her face. She looked up at Richard with her mouth dropped open and her eyes wide open and never made a sound. It was as if she was talking with her facial expression, "Can you believe she is biting me...why aren't you doing anything, Daddy?"
Yesterday, Brittany catches them on video tape being the sweetest babies I know they can be to each other. They were playing and laughing and having a blast not caring what is going on around them. A few hours later, the fangs come out. Quinn didn't like the way Brooklyn looked at her and bite her arm. Poor Brooklyn has four teeth marks embedded in her skin. Quinn was the first to break skin with her fangs. It looks horrible. I have to be honest...at some point she may have deserved it. Both of them deserve it.
Last week, they were sitting across from each other in the floor. Quinn just looks at Brooklyn and pushes her backwards. Luckily Brittany's foot was there to catch her head before hitting the floor. I told her no and sat Brooklyn back up. Well, Quinn didn't want her to sit up and did it again. Brooklyn didn't do anything to her or provoke her in anyway.
I will be honest....please don't ask me if they are getting anymore teeth. I have attempted to check and it is a very painful thing to do. So I know they are getting them in but I couldn't tell ya where. I will not be checking. It is very dangerous around those mouths. I don't know what to do with these two girls. They are crazy!!!!
They seem to have a slightly elevated violent streak. Brooklyn's may goal for the day is to torture Toby. She goes up to him and just slaps his face. Keep in mind, he is just sleeping in the floor. She crawls up to him, sits in front of him and slaps him until he moves or we get onto her. We use Triple Paste for their bottoms. It comes in a small tub. She pick the tub up (tub is full, barely used) and drops in on Toby's head. Now, we know why he hides from us. Tortured!
They are becoming boogers to change their diapers. It is like a battle each time. Trying to keep them from crawling away. And Brooklyn is strong. I believe she is abnormally strong for her size. She is a beast! So fighting her is a workout. The best time to change their diapers is in the morning. They are relaxed and don't really want to fight. They just want to snuggle.
I am starting to believe the meanness is equaling the sweetness. So I am just full of joy when I see them be sweet to each other or other people. Memorial Day, they were napping in one play pen together, we really need two play pens, and Brooklyn was sleeping with her tooter (butt) in the air. Quinn was sitting next to her and she was patting her back a couple of times then moving her hand to Brooklyn's butt and rubbing it. She sees us doing this and she is playing the comforting parent. So stinking sweet. She did that for several minutes and then laid next to Brooklyn and slept. ADORABLE! I need more of the melt my heart moments like that instead of the vicious fear for your life moments. Either which way, I am always in awe of them and their spectacular ways.
Their personalities are blooming so much. Quinn will smile you to death. She is so easily amused and will laugh and carry on with you. Love it. Brooklyn still has a stone cold personality. The one person to make her laugh with ease is non other than her big sister, Quinn. Ironic, huh? Love-Hate relationship on the rise! Brooklyn has a very keen ability to look at you and make you feel like the dumbest person in the world. I often wonder how a baby could make me feel stupid. Her facial expression speak wonders about what is going on in her head. Her Uncle Robert admitted this weekend that she makes him feel stupid. I am just glad I am not the only one. I can get her to laugh...no doubt about that but others will talk with them and she just looks at them without hinting to a smile. Last night, someone was talking with her and she almost grinned. It was clear she was holding it back. I loved it. I told him, you almost had a smile. Meanwhile, Quinn is practically laughing at him. Go figure. I think I am taking offense to Brooklyn's cold demeanor because after someone comments on it they follow that comment with "Just like her mother!"
I foresee a very interesting future with these Princesses. I pray that God will not let loose of them or they will be GONE!!!
