I am such a blog slacker. But I always want exciting things to blog about and so I wait.
The girls went for their 6 month check up on Monday. Brooklyn weighs 9lbs 12oz. She is 21 3/4" long/tall. All is well with her check up. We are attempting to take her off the Zantac. We pray that it won't cause her any discomfort and she can stay off of it. She is overall doing wonderfully. If I haven't mentioned it yet, she is now rolling over also. She still remains my little firecracker. Quinn weighed 10lbs and 14.2oz. She is now 23 1/2" long/tall. Please congratulate her when you see her. She has now made the "Chart." She is big enough to monitor on a growth chart. Yay! And she is a rolling fool. She is constantly rolling over. I believe she has made her point that she doesn't care to be on her back.
Both girls had their 6 month shots. They got three on Monday. It was not pleasant. I believe they are forgetting how to handle the shots. So they screamed. I don't know who I was more worried about them or Nana Anna. I think she feels the shots the girls get and she doesn't like it. We have to go back next month and get round two of the flu shot.
Dr. Pitts says that they are actually at a nine month stage in some areas. He said their cognitive development is definitely at that of a nine month old infant. Before he started examining Brooklyn, he started talking to her. She was giving him her famous "Stank Eye." He said to me, "Do you notice the way she is examining me and wondering who I am? She does not recognize me and not sure about me." He said that and I felt the need to explain to him that she is giving him the "Stank Eye." He just praised her for it because it is a nine month development. Quinn did the same exact thing to him. She just looked him up and down.
He started asking about their physical development and if they started rolling from their belly to their back. I just laughed and explained that they sort of skipped that and just started rolling back to belly. He said that was also a nine month development. Apparently, six month old babies roll belly to back. Q and B decided to skip that feeble task and move onto bigger and better things.
Sorry, I just looked at them sleeping in their swings and the biggest smile came across my face.
Dr. Pitts knew they were premature and after their examination he asked to be reminded how many weeks premature. After telling him, 29 1/2 weeks, he just told me how amazing they are doing considering how premature they are. Talk about making me proud. These girls have overcome so much and they are still fighting. He said that he was so surprised to see them so advanced in areas. They are really catching up quickly. I know I was smiling from ear to ear. As a new parent, I want everything for my babies. I have always worried about them struggling throughout life due to their prematurity. Whether they know it or not, they have a personal goal to go against the odds. I am proud of them. I think Dr. Pitts was a bit proud too.
I do have one tiny little complaint. We had the rudest nurse and I don't want to see him again. When he was asking me questions before Dr. Pitts came in he rubbed me the wrong way. I know that I am a first time mother and I don't know everything. But that doesn't mean I can be belittled by a nurse. He asked me what kind and how often I was giving them water, tap or distilled. I was confused because I was under the impression that giving babies water was a no-no. The can of formula even says to boil the water before mixing with the formula. So with this in my mind, I questioned his question by simply repeating it to him. Obviously, I have the label "Stupid" on my forehead. His response to me was rude with a complete smart butt tone. After he left, I confirmed with Anna if she thought he was being a jerk about my supposed incompetence. I figure he is the imcompetent one. Unfortunately, he came back and was the nurse to stick my two little princesses. One of the vaccinations is an oral vaccine. Well, Anna put the paci in Brooklyn's mouth while he was getting his stuff ready. He proceeds to say "No, No, No. Don't put that in yet." HELLO dude!!! We can take it back out. It isn't a big deal to remove the pacifier from her mouth so you can give her a vaccination. RUDE!
I believe that is enough ranting for now.
I am smiling ear to ear to hear how advanced the girls are!! Such blessings!!
ReplyDeleteAnd for the "Nurse"... I will leave those comments to myself! :)
