10-11-10

So we went to the Endocrinologist on Friday. What a trip that was at Emory Childrens Center. Our appointment was at 8:00am. Consider an hour drive with traffic on a Friday morning into Atlanta...FUN FUN FUN. The unfortunate thing is that it was the better part of the entire trip. I was so nervous on Thursday about having to drive to Atlanta at that time. We sign in at 7:46am. They asked me to be there at 7:45am for registration. I was punished for being late one minute. We walked in that door at 7:46am and did not leave until 10:17am. You are probably asking what in the heck took so long. I really wish I could ease your concerns. I watched everyone fill out their paperwork and not finish before they got to go back. Brooklyn and I, on the otherhand, complete the paperwork the day before and had it in hand ready to turn in and make the process speedy. Think again, I was punished more. I watched everyone go back and finally we went back at 8:30am. But do not get your hopes up...it was just for vitals and weight check. They asked us to go back to the waiting area until Dr. Parks room was available. I thought that was fine, sure, not a problem. NEGATIVE! Vitals took an entire 10 minutes. At about 9:30am, we go back to see the doctor. Well, another lady doctor comes in and I am sure her name wasn't Dr. John Parks. She did a complete work over and talked with me for a while about development. Then she says I have to wait to see Dr. Parks so he can see Brooklyn. He walked through the door and I understood some of the slow situation. Dr. Parks walked slow, talked slow and thought slow. Basically he said they were going to get some labs done and then see the results. Being concerned that the last labs may not have been good, I asked how the last ones were looking. Apparently, they did not have the last results that I got on September 24th. The only ones they had were from August. So that started another whirlwind of fluster. They went on a search to get those results. In the meantime, I was asked again to wait in the waiting room. At 10:15am, Dr. Parks came into the waiting room and told me her labs were perfect. They will keep her on Synthroid for 3 years before discussing taking her off of them.

That's it ...we were done.

Then the real frustration ensued when I was leaving this wonderful place. Due to the visit taking over 2 hours, I had to pay $12 in parking fees. It was ridiculous. Then we drove home. EXCITING!!!! They kept saying they were sorry but that didn't help me deal with the weird man approaching me in the waiting room. He actually asked his son to trade seats with him so he could talk with me. Creep. Or the stares from the Mexican lady across the sitting area.

In the end, the medication is working and looking really good. So we will keep her on it through her vital development stages and re-evaluate the situtation in 3 years.

We started carrots this week. I haven't fed them to the girls yet. But Nana Anna say they do not make the yucky faces they did with the green beans. She thinks they love them. I do not love the smell that is produced by carrots. Disgusting.

I just changed my first carrot filled pooped panties and it was nasty. I think it had an orange tint. Besides the nastiness, Quinn grabbed the diaper and started pulling it toward her mouth. I freaked out. I yelped and started snatching. Thing is that my hands were in the process of wiping booty and holding legs. I have no idea how she managed to grab the diaper out from underneath her. She is lightning fast!!! I had to sacrifice the hand holding the legs. Whew! It was a close one.

Absolutely everything is going in their mouths. I had no idea toes could be so yummy. They are even putting each others hands in each others mouths. Last night, Quinn thought Brooklyn was hungry and started putting her hand in Brooklyn's mouth. Brooklyn would push her hand out of her mouth but Quinn couldn't take a hint. She went back for more. She just knew that Brooklyn would love chewing on her hand. These girls are crazy. And I am positive they have a jealous bone.

I do believe Miss Porky Quinn is teething. She exhibits signs of teething and her bottom gums feel a bit rough. Trust me...it is not fun hearing her whine. She will just wake up screaming. Please pray for our sanity during this special time.

And I am at a loss in figuring how to comfort them when they are fighting their sleep. I just let them wear themselves out and finally they will just pass out. Poor things get so tired they just can't go to sleep easily. They will usually whine and get very restless for about 20 minutes and then they are down for the count. Then they are so angelic looking when they sleep. Just precious little beings.

It is time to put the Princesses to bed. I need some ideas for our Team name for the March of Dimes. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
