Happy Birthday to my sweet little girls! April 14th was their first birthday. We had a birthday party on April 3rd at the Bay Creek Community Center. It was absolutely wonderful. A special thanks to my Mom and Dad for helping me with the party. I am not experienced with the party planning so I definitely needed the help. But it was a success! Family came from all over and from Alabama. The girls got so much stuff. We are so lucky to have so many people in our lives that care so much about us and the girls. Truly an amazing family! The girls loved their smash cakes and dug in with icing EVERYWHERE. On their actual birthday, they almost ate and entire cupcake. Again, icing everywhere. But we loved watching them enjoy those cupcakes.

On Thursday, for the girls birthday, we went to visit the NICU. The nurses had made a sign made and balloons on the NICU door. They also signed one of those pink stuffed doggies! It was so thoughtful and sweet. They were excited to see those girls. To them, it was a sense of accomplishment to see those wonderful miracles thriving and full of life.

Yesterday we had their 12 month check up with Dr. Pitts. Quinn weighed 15lbs 12oz and is 27" tall. Brooklyn is 14lbs 14.2oz and is 25.75" tall. We are all in check on their growing weight. On their 12 month check up, they have to get the hemocrit levels checked. It was odd hearing that term. I haven't heard it in so long. However, the ideal level for them is 36 and Quinn is at 39. But Miss B is at a 32 and needs to take vitamins for additional that extra iron supplement. She also had to be on Iron after she was discharged from NICU. I just hope she doesn't battle this anemia for the rest of her life.

Brooklyn also had a endocrinology check up last week. I haven't heard the results of her blood test. So I will have to call them for the results. They don't seem to communicate well at all. I am guessing we do not need to change the dosage of her synthroid.

They are doing so great. I am just so proud of all they have accomplished in their short time in this world. They are fighters and I wouldn't want it any other way. Even when they fight each other. And trust me...they do that alot. We are working on the concept of "sharing." It is a difficult concept for a couple of one year old twins. Although it is quite humorous watching them get angry. They are starting to develop little attitudes, sassy sassy tudes! One key quality of this "tude" is their ability to scream their distaste for what is going on. I had no idea the sass and baby could have inside! WOW!

As far as movement, they are now declared Baby Olympic Speed Crawlers! They are so fast! Walking is going to be tricky with two of them. We got them a walker toy and they will take a couple of steps with it. Mostly they just sit down when they take one step. They are both holding on and walking with things so it is just a matter of time before the knots and bruises become a daily deal. Quinn was speed crawling and got caught up on her bib and face planted the hardwood floor. She bit through her little lip and has a cut on it. Poor baby!

Quinn is still saying DaDa and nothing more. It would be horrible if they said MaMa! Brooklyn now says "Hey" to you. When we walk in the door, she starts crawling to us saying "hey, hey, hey!" It is the best thing to come home too. They are so excited to see us when we walk in the door. The best moment of my day! Absolutely wonderful!!!!

We are excited about walking in a couple of weeks for the March for Babies. So if you can sponsor us in the walk, please visit  http://www.marchforbabies.org/YeahBabies.
