Yes, it has been a month since I have blogged. So much as happened since I have last blogged. So I am just going to list them for each girl.
Quinn
She has just started crawling on all fours. She know she is faster doing the army crawl so she will resort to it when she wants to get somewhere fast.
She now has two more teeth coming in one on top and one on bottom.
She will NOT stop saying DaDa. Richard will just look at her and smile and she says it as if on que. When I would be trying to get her to say Momma, he would be behind me mouthing DaDa and she would call me DaDa. He finally noticed it was confusing her.
She is pulling up on absolutely everything.
She can get in a sitting position from crawling and start crawling from sitting position.
She has just started standing up in her bed.
Brooklyn
She is picking up some serious speed with her army crawling.
She will pull her legs under her body to sit up but she will just bounce back and forth. She hasn't yet crawled on all fours.
She has one more tooth coming in up top.
She still chirps like a little bird and holds her mouth wide open to eat...like a little bird.
Last Thursday, she was diagnosed with an ear infection in her right ear. She was on Amoxicillin that gave her a bad yeast rash. Poor baby didn't want her diaper changed. I don't blame her.
She remains a sweet little baby that gets bullied by her big sister.
She actually started pulling up before Quinn started.
She loves to dance. She will dance to any toy that makes noise. It is quite hilarious. But she gets so excited.
The girls are doing so good. Right now we are working on some table food. We are also working on their crabbie claws. Using their pointer finger and thumb to pick up little pieces of food. Lets just say it is a work in progress. Gerber makes melting yogurt pieces that we use to work on the crabbie claws. Unfortunately, I have to cut the pieces that are usually the size of a dime. Miss Quinn has a tendency to not really chew her foods. So we have to make the pieces small enough so that if she doesn't chew, she won't choke on the pieces. She is a big porky pig!
Girls had their 9 month check up and Dr. Pitts said they were progressing beautifully as far as their weights are concerned. We have to work on their crabbie claws and sippy cups. Lets just say that the girls would thirst to death if they had to rely on those sippy cups. Most days they just knaw on the nipple of the sippy cup and don't drink any of it. It can be very frustrating. Because I want them to progress and these little milestones build up to big accomplishments.
Ultimately, I am getting anxious for them to meet these accomplishments. I know I can't and shouldn't rush them. I just want them to have all the opportunity possible. And on the other hand, I don't want to do anything wrong. I have never raised children before and now I am raising premature children. The comparing to other babies that were full term is very trying on me. But I have to keep in mind that they will do what they can...when they can. I just want to make sure I offer the opportunity and don't miss it. I just hope that I do this right. I really don't want to mess up the whole parenting thing!
We have moved the March for Babies from April 15th to April 30th. The nurses from NICU are walking on the 30th and I thought it would be neat and special to walk with the same ladies that gave Quinn and Brooklyn such great care while they were in NICU. Their care for the girls played a big part in who they are now and I want to join forces with them to walk for all premature babies.
We hope you will join our team. The March of Dimes team name is Yeah Babies. Our softball team is called Yeah Buds so it seems fitting. Guess we will have to condition the girls to be in a stroller for 4 miles! Perhaps I need to condition myself for walking 4 miles. Bless me!
