I hope all of your Christmas' were amazing. Our 1st Christmas with the girls was just splendid. We were so busy and I am glad the running around is over. We attended 7 Christmas' with family. I think we need to condense the Christmas Parties and have one big Christmas BlowOut!
The girls actually loved opening the gifts. And they did it very well considering it was their first Christmas and first time opening gifts. Granted, their main goal was to get the paper and eat it. Yea, whatever encouragement they needed was fine with me. It was a surprise to us. I just loved their faces when they opened the gifts. They have a very stern look of shear concentration. They pucker those lips and squeeze their eyebrows together. I love it. I love it because I have found a part of me in them. But other times in concentration, they chew on their tongue. That is definitely a Daddy trait!
Everyone was so amazing to us and the girls. I never imagined getting baby food for Christmas would be so great. Trust me, it was the top ranked Christmas gift this year. The girls made out like bandits in the cloths category. Of course, how can anyone resist buying cute little girls clothes. They got some monies to fill up their piggy bank! They will enjoy that when they get older. Santa brought them some toys that will help in their development like sitting up and walking. Although, Santa could have just brought them an empty wipey box and it would have been the best toy ever! I keep an empty lotion bottle where I change their diaper because it keeps their attention and they don't take off rolling everywhere without panties on! Silly girls are all over the place and not even crawling yet. Bless me now!
Speaking of sitting, they are doing so great! Brooklyn is sitting like a champ. She can even keep her balance sitting and turning around to look at me. Quinn is doing great also. She just doesn't keep her balance as well but really does great! She is actually more interested in her army crawl. That girl is on a serious mission every time she spots something she wants.
Well, onto the concerning aspect of the babies. Last week, the girls didn't gain any weight, in fact, Quinn lost a couple of ounces. So, being the concerned new mother that I am, I made a doctor appointment. Nana Anna weighed them yesterday and they gained some weight, which is excellent. Quinn checks in at 13lbs 2oz and Miss B is 12lbs 5oz. So in two weeks, they have gain a little bit of weight. They haven't finished their bottles in a while. Not sure if they are getting full on food but I need them to finish. But then again, they are getting so active now and probably burning off some of those ounces. So who knows! Guess we will pay to find out this week.
They both have pearly whites on the bottom and they are getting bigger and bigger. I noticed this week that they have a "soon to be" breakthrough of their top front teeth. So this time next week, they may have some pearly whites up top too.
Richard had a dream last night that the girls saw other kids crawling and decided to do it themselves. But they were half the size they are now. I have those dreams that they will be walking and only be a foot tall. Guess we have some reservations about their small sizes. In all honesty, I think we are secretly haunted by the looks we get when people ask their age. It doesn't quite match their size. They are going to be the smallest walkers ever. Truth is...we know the real story and that is all that matters.
The girls made calendars for their grandparents for Christmas. I think they did an awesome job. And a special thanks to Nana Anna for taking so many adorable pictures. And another thanks to Aunt Lacey for her great pictures. These princesses are quite photogenic. They are just little cheesers in front of a camera. Well, Nana Anna's camera and not so much Aunt Lacey's camera.
Happy New Year!
Thanks for the Q and B fix. You are a gifted writer and a very special mom. God gave those girls the right parents for sure! Nannette
