Yes, I am a horrible blogger. I am frequently reminded of the lack of blogs I have going on!!!
I have some things to update concerning the girls. First off, they are growing so much. I am amazed at the changes in them everyday. I witness a true miracle everyday.
Let's start with Miss Brooklyn. She is now taking Synthroid for her hypothyroidism. I have to crush a little pill every night. It really is a cocktail of drugs and formula. It is a precise work of art to mix Zantac, Synthroid and formula in one syringe. I have gladly cut the chore from a 10 minute process to about a minute. One extremely downside is the Synthroid is affecting her metabolism. She gets hungrier faster and starts to get a little cranky before it is time for her to eat. No problem, we just feed her! You can hear her little belly just growling.
She looks like she has grown in just days. She seems so much more fuller than usual. She is just a happy little munchkin. I am not sure if it is a side effect of the Synthroid, but that chickies hair has sprouted. She had hair on the side and back of her head that was about a inch to inch and half long. She was nearly bald on top. Now, she has a fuzzy little head. Her hair has grown so much in just a weeks time. AMAZING! I do know that a side effect is hair loss but not Brooklyn. She is beating the odds. And it is thick hair too. Takes after her Momma!
Quinn is just a growing weed. She is so curious. She is doing good in all aspects. Still a bit stubborn in physical therapy. But I notice her keeping her head straight and turning to both sides. She just doesn't like to do it when I want her too. Apparently she is a little flirt. Nana Anna caught her flirting with Brock the Baccus Bug Man.
They are both getting tummy time and holding themselves up. It doesn't last long but they are doing it.
Now keep in mind these little miracles are technically, two months old. Keeping that in mind, is it normal for a two month old to be looking around and holding their head up above your shoulder while you walk around with them? Unless they are tired, you don't need to hold their head anymore. They want to be looking all around. TOO BIG FOR THEIR BRITCHES!
I can't get over their smiles and cooing laughs. Richard promises me that he heard Brooklyn laugh out loud on Saturday. He said it was a different noise than the cooing laugh.
When we talk to them, their faces just light up with smiles and just a overall happiness. It just melts my heart. I love it. I look forward to it. We love it so much that when they are in a great mood in the wee hours of the morning, we stay up and play with them. Shame on us for not sleeping but it is too good to pass up. It makes you feel so good. I can't explain the overbearing joy it gives me to talk to them and a smile come across their face.
They are staying awake so much more nowadays. Quinn stayed up from 730a to 4p yesterday. She had her 4p feeding and passed out. Well, we both did. Brooklyn snuggled with her Uncle Robert.
They went to their 3 month checkup on Friday. Technically they are 4 months old but it is how the preemie thing goes. YES, they got shots. I didn't take them for this check up. Richard and Nana Anna took them and handled it beautifully. I missed going but I did send Richard with a list of questions I compiled over a few days time. He asked every question and got me a detailed answer. Dr. Pitts with Gwinnett Pediatrics is absolutely amazing. He is so great with the girls. He was the doctor I bragged about when we first went there. He read Quinn's discharge papers before we even got there. Well, on Thursday, he had his nurse call us and ask us to come a little earlier so he could have more time with the girls. Now, early meant that it cut into his lunch time. Because the girls were the first patients after lunch. He talked to them and played with them. Quinn flirted with him. He is so good with the girls. He takes his time and explains everything. I would suggest him to everyone.
He said that the girls muscle tone is exceptional. He said their tone is that of a full-term four month old baby. So physically speaking, they are two months ahead of schedule. Also, I have been saying this for a couple of weeks, but Brooklyn seems to be more physically able then Quinn. She seems a bit stronger and has been better at her physical therapy. Dr. Pitts confirmed that Brooklyn is excelling in that category and leaving Quinn in her dust. They are both doing excellent physically but Brooklyn is doing better than the Porky Princess. They cried for only about 30 seconds when they got their shots. Like I said before, they are used to being poked and prodded.
Quinn is growing faster than expected. He said this was probably normal considering she was a preemie. She may be having a catch up growth spurt. Considering her thyroid issue, Brooklyn is growing at a great rate. So hopefully her medication is working.
Alright...Chunky Chick weigh in...Quinn now tops the scales at a hefty 9lbs 2oz and 21 inches long. Brooklyn is gaining fast weighing in at 7lbs 11oz and 20 inches long. Absolutely wonderful!
We did get lab work for Brooklyn to get done before her Endocrinologist on October
8th. So she will need give blood yet again!
Even better, Dr. Pitts is wanting to see them on some cereal starting next month. WOW! I wasn't expecting that to happen so soon. He went over an entire food schedule with Richard. I am confused but Dr. Pitts said I could call him and discuss it.
He really is a great pediatrician. So much better than mine growing up. He has so much personality and spunk. Richard said that Dr. Pitts was so thankful for Nana Anna. He really didn't want the girls to be in daycare and he was glad she was there for the girls. He called her a VIP, Very Important Person. We are very thankful for her also.
I am sure that I left little things out of this blog because it has been so long since I have updated. We are also going to have another photo session with L and L Photography soon. Be ready for some new pictures.
I am so amazed by them! Their weight is AWESOME! And Brooklyn seems to be right behind her- Quinn better keep her game, Brook may pass her before long! And Cereal- WOW! They will really pork up now!! You make me cry in almost everyone of the blogs- just reading the way to talk (type) about them. You are an exceptional Mother! Quinn & Brooklyn are so lucky! I love you! Oh, and Richard is pretty amazing too ;)
