First of all, I apologize for any offenses in the previous blog. It was not my intention to upset anyone. However, I was writing about something that was important to me. Perhaps my passion was a bit overwhelming in the last blog. I didn't mean that if you came to my home and did not wash your hands you will risk killing my babies. It was not intended that way and you are more than welcome to come meet the babies. All I ask is that you are not sick and that you wash your hands. I will not apologize for asking that you clean your hands. However, I didn't want people to think they weren't welcome to hold them. I think it is a wonderful treat to hold them in your arms. In my opinion, you are holding a cute little miracle from God. Just know to expect me to ask the question about washing your hands.
I was on such a ride last blog I forgot to mention a couple of the other comments or questions I get along the way. When people ask their names and I tell them...they want to know if I am from New York. When I tell the Quinn's name, they believe she is a boy because of her name. I promise we found it in the girls section of the baby book. But I guess I will never live down Brooklyn, New York. I don't mind it though. I love their names and I think they fit them perfectly. I have gotten a ton of compliments on their names. So many people have told me how much they love their names.
The pediatrician went well on Friday. Brooklyn had to get more blood taken after we left the pediatrician for her thyroid and a slew of other blood work tests. For the last couple of weeks, Quinn has been my spit up monster. She has reflux but not bad enough for medication. They try really hard to not give them meds due to the side effects and their prematurity. So when he was evaluating Quinn and I was talking about her spit ups, he started describing what would warrant medication. Well, to my surprise, he was describing Brooklyn perfectly. She grunts halfway through her feeding and will fight the bottle and milk. If you are trying to feed her while she is grunting, she is more liable to choke. So after he was done explaining symptoms of reflux that warrants meds, I told him that he just diagnosed Brooklyn. So he gave her some Zantac for her belly. It seems to be working. She takes the bottle alot better and the grunting isn't a huge issue. She is also going back to sleep better after a bottle at night. And another bonus, she is cuddling more instead of wiggling like her belly hurts.
Weights are up. And Dr. said that Brooklyn is doing really well considering the possible thyroid issue and her reflux. Brooklyn weighs 6lbs and 8oz. Quinn weighs 7lbs and 11.2oz. We have a couple of growing babies.
They are noticing all sorts of things now. Quinn watched Richard walk across the room. Brooklyn is loving to watch the fan now. They are just wonderful little beings that I love to see change everyday.
Now, yesterday was a doozy. I was feeding Brooklyn and I unintentionally gagged her. Well, her vomit went halfway across the couch and drenched me. She was great and didn't get any on her. Later that day, Quinn did the same thing but she gagged herself. I do have to give the longest distance award to Brooklyn. She may be little but she packs a powerful vomit.
They are staying awake more now. After they eat is good times to play with them. Can't play too hard because they spit up so much but just talking to them is good for me. At the dr. on Friday, Anna was holding Quinn and I started talking to her and she just smiled at me. She probably didn't know what she was doing but it made me feel special.
I would like to give everyone an idea of how wonderful Nana Anna is to us. Last week, I came home and the bottles were washed, formula was made, girls laundry was done, towels were folded and the dishwasher was unloaded. Not to mention I found a folder on my computer with some sweet photos in it of the girls. Oh what a relief it was to just come home and play with babies. It felt really great to spend time with them and not worry about the chores.I just enjoyed every minute of it. Thank you Nana Anna!
